First of all: even with my 81 years old ears I like the sound of AS very well. Compared with 3.5 the difference is big. To be sure I asked my wife (with younger ears) to hear and she had exact the same feeling. So this was the reason to subscribe for AS.
But now the problem. I need the remote because the computer with my local music is on the second floor of my (Greek) house and my music installation is in the basement. Computer is an iMac with Big Sur and Audirvana 1.6.1. The iMac is wired connected with the streamer/DAC (La Rosita Quark) in the basement.
When I start AS in the basement with my iPad, AS start running but with a lot of problems. In settings I can see for the streamer/DAC: loading. Sometimes the music plays but most of theme stops after a while. The remote is unresponsible and often telles me: request error.
But, when I take the iPad upstairs in the room where my iMac is and start AS there, everything is working very well. Also when I go down with the iPad to the basement. Not any problem.
So it seems that the remote is on a relative distant not able to start AS completely.
In the beginning I thought that the problem had something to do with UPNP but that’s bot the
problem. I can live with it but hope for a more easy solution.

No, the router can’t be the problem, because the router is very near te iPad and the connection
is very strong. It is for me a strange problem. This afternoon first I could listen without any problem at all. I closed playing and started again. Again no problem. Waiting some hours more the problem came back and i have send the debug info to Damien. So I hope he can find where something is going wrong.
That’s correct. I also thought about the router and tomorrow I will change the wifi router in the basement with the router of the second floor in order to see if that makes perhaps a difference.
I changed the router with another one but the problem still exist, although AS 1.6.4 seems more stable. Wenn I go with my iPad upstairs in the room where my iMac is and open there AS, open an album to play and go down to the ground floor, everything is working very well. A little bit inconvenient but for the moment I can live with it and hope that something will change in the near future. The only problem I still have is that sometimes, so not always, AS stops playing after one track. I don’t know why but most of the time it happens with an album with very short tracks (1-3 seconds) and with music in ALAC, listening to local files.
Hi, I wonder if any other members have experienced this and found a fix?
I recently started using AS Remote on a 2020 iPad Air running the latest version of iOS. Whenever I press the 3 dot buttons, top of album track view or individual tracks, the app closes and has to be restarted.
I am mostly using Qobuz.
Audirvāna has its good points but it seems to be full of bugs and support is sketchy at best.
Hi, I’m using AS Remote on an iPad Pro M1 at the moment and the same behaviour happens in landscape and portrait mode. The 3 dot button on the Mini-Player works fine but on the album track listing page pressing the 3 dots always results in the app closing.
Same behaviour on an iPad Air but iPhone 12 works fine.
@Antoine To add to my earlier post the same thing happens when attempting to add a track to a playlist. From the album track list page pressing the 3 dot menu button on an individual track opens the sub menu, pressing the Add to Playlist item closes the remote. The other sub-menu items appear to work correctly.
Okay, we will take a look at it and see if it’s not related to the work we need to do in landscape mode.
