I keep hoping that every new upgrade to AS will bring the ability to search and filter my collection by record label. Record labels are so important for collectors so it seems a strange omission. I’d love to set up smart playlists and include record labels in the criteria. It’s even stranger it’s missing since when you edit metadata within AS the label tag is there to edit. Yet we cannot use this to search and filter. There is a huge list of tags we can filter by, but this one is missing - very odd decision (omission?). Of all the improvements and changes, this is the one I am waiting for.

I have added the label into my Album Artist metadata. Works wonderfully. Of course, the initial setup period was extraordinarily time consuming.

Thanks Phil. Yea I thought of doing something like that, eg I see the comments tag is in the list so could go there. Bit daunting though going through my 2188 albums and doing this! Just a pity it cannot be added then job would be done.

Record Labels generally focus on genre and style and many labels are period related.
If you created a ‘smart’ album/artist playlist using relevant criteria and then filter the results to refine the collection, this could create a mechanism to quickly collect a selection of titles that can subsequently be moved into specific record-label/album playlists, where, adding albums, etc, will be greatly simplified in the future.
