Something I’d find practical is being able to sequence Playlists or even make a Playlist of Playlists. In a few clicks you could compile a whole evening of sequenced music. I loved Legos as a kid
Hi @ianstudio The ability to do this already exists. On Studio on your computer, go to your Playlist Manager, click on the middle option which is Add a Folder, and for ease of showing I’ve just added one called Playlist of Playlists. You can pull other Playlists into that Folder and pull them out again at your convenience. Then click on the folder and hit play to play in sequence or shuffle. In this screenshot I have clicked on the eye, and the tracks are shown in the Albums they are from, if you just want to see the tracks, click the eye and you will just see the tracks. I like using the eye as it is very easy if you like a track to click the eye, click the album to see the full album and if you want to listen to that album, just click play on the album.
Hope that helps with what you are after…
Thanks, yes. I use Origin which looks different but the concept of folders seems to be that to some extent…
Too bad once in a folder the tracks all ‘flatten out’ into a single list, I’d want to see the title of each playlist even in that view… actually I don’t understand how to keep the order of the tracks since at that folder-as-playlist-of-playlists the order is now dependent on the drop-down filter at the top (Title, Grouping, Album Title and so on) so basically I am losing the order I curated originally for each Playlist that folder contains ?! What am I missing to really play them sequentially as they are designed, my order of Playlists and my order of tracks inside them ?
Also, side question… In the My Playlists Navigator one can only see the content ordered alphabetically ? No manual ordering ? When I take a Playlist and drag/Drop it… it goes through the motion of Drag/Drop, an orange line appears symbolizing where I’d like to drop and place the Playlist… BUT… it goes back to being in alphabetical order once dropped.
Apologies as I thought you were using Studio, and you may well be right that the system is probably designed the same way. I have never used Origin.
A lot of questions and maybe too many for me to answer period and hopefully correctly. Unfortunately middle of the night here and I’m just up waiting for some medications to kick in.
Hopefully this will give you the tools to discover what you can do. I believe that once you find/or know that these options exist you can normally play around with your playlists and get them doing what you want them to do.
5 Screenshots attached.
First - once you are in a playlist, click the up/down arrows beside the funnel and you get the Sort Local Library Tracks menu, but initially can’t utilise it, so click the 3 dots to the right and you get a Sort also Manual Playlists and toggle. Turn it on and the full sorting menu become available to you.
Second - it now looks like this. Just click the options to change and the box with toggle drops out of the way
Third - this was how this small playlist I’m creating was originally showing. Effectively in Date Added order.
Fourth - after changing the sort option to Album Artists
Fifth - after changing the sort option to Release Date
So after you have played around a bit, hopefully you will be able to find a solution that you are happy with. Just note that when you toggle on, the Sort Order applies to all your Manual Playlists.
If you want to go back to how you had them previously, toggle off and Revert.
Never looked at a way to sort the playlists in the Playlist Manager as I’ve always been happy with Alphabetical, so can’t help you with that.
I have previously provided a number of answers on Playlists to fellow users, so you may want to use the search facility on the Forum to have a look as there may be other issues that apply to your requirements or at the least help you get started.
Cheers and enjoy the music once you get it sorted. (Pun Intended)
Thanks for the help.
I’m more of a DJ type person, I decide the order of the music I listen to or prepare for others Unless I want to listen to whole albums in which case I respect and enjoy the choice of the artist.
Still need to figure out what I can and cannot do easily in Audirvana, which is so full of cuteness (read: hard to figure out features ).
@Antoine
Saluti, je ne vois pas de moyen de garder intact l’ordre manuel des contenus de Playlists une fois qu’elles sont dans un dossier
Comment que je fais ça par Toutatis ?
