Smart playlist - conditions

Can I make smart -playlist including the condition that numbers present in other playlists are not added ?
Used to work well in Apple iTunes.

Hello @Rik,

Can you please send a screenshot of the condition you are talking about in iTunes?

I think he means playlist is not condition.

I am also wondering if you can make playlists using other playlists, in my case I would like to make a smart playlist that includes songs from other playlists, I would be doing this in Origin.

It would be great if Audirvana support would answer my question at some point. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

It would be appreciated if someone from support answered my question.

Hi @Grativana , Welcome to the forum.

You are reacting to a post which is 2 years old. I am not from support, but the support staff is available during office hours. I can imagine that they did not notice your message in this old thread.

I will flag @Antoine from Audirvana support here. He will probably notice this on monday. As far as I know (as a forum member) including other playlists in a smart playlist is not possible, but I could be wrong. If you want a confirmation from official support you will have to wait a bit.

Hi @Grativana,

Technically it’s possible, nut as we have other projects going on, we don’t really know how much time we need to put on this to make it happening.

@AndyLubke, thanks so much. Yes I realized this is an old thread, but I thought I would revive it rather than creating a duplicate. I thought it would come up to the top to the forum with the new post and that Audirvana support would see it. I guess I was wrong. My bad. I will try to contact support directly next time. It is nice that that is an option. I think all Ron support is through the forum which is not my cup of tea sometimes.

@Antoine Thank you so much for getting back to me! Sorry if I did not use the proper method to get support’s attention. This is really the deal breaker in getting me to move over to Audirvana. I set up iTunes with many playlists that segregate music, much like genres are used.

For example I have a general greatest hits playlist, but I also separate music into genres like Pop, Heavy Metal etc. While Genres help with this, sometimes a song will fit into many genres so I use these playlists to segregate music into the “general” genre it would fall into. By using the playlist is or playlist is not function, I could play set up a smart playlist of greatest hits, but filter out Pop or Heavy metal.

This option will also help you find songs not in playlists. If you put all your playlists under a main playlist, you could use play list is not main playlist to find all those songs. It is an extremely useful function, which is why it is in iTunes. I hope you guys consider adding this and other options to your smart playlists. As I said I would jump aboard and buy origin because I do not use streaming services.

On a side note, my Origin trial expired. If I subscribe monthly to Studio, can I keep using Origin as I did previously? If so, could I revert back to Origin if I decide to buy it? Basically I want to use Studio to “extend my trial” of Origin, so I can keep on experimenting, but I do not see the use for Studio in the future.

If you subscribe to Audirvāna Studio, you will need to use Audirvāna Studio but keep Audirvāna Origin installed until you want to buy Audirvāna Origin; it will use the same database file as the one from Audirvāna Studio when you will stop your subscription.

OK, thanks once again!
Since I am going to install a new program, should I install that in my server? I think I made a mistake installing Orgin on my workstation. It should be in the server, correct?

I assume I can access it though my workstation, by installing a copy there? What is the best way to set things up?

Will keep Orign on my workstation, but when I reinstall it in the server, if that is the advised location to install it, I assume things will work. I really have not changed anything in Audirvana. I was just testing playback and some options, such as playlist creation, so I don’t have to worry about anything other than the database.

Any advice you have in setting up Audirvana for what will ultimately be an Origin installation on multiple computers, including a main server to house the main database would be appreciated!

If you have a QNAP or Synology, installing it on the server would be better. Then, you will need to connect to Audirvāna, the Audirvāna Remote app.

I would be installing it on a Windows 11 server. Would that work?

Hi @Grativana,
