Hello Audirvāna team,
I’m running Audirvāna Linux (headless) on a dedicated audio server and controlling it exclusively through the Remote app on iOS.
In such headless setups, the Remote app relies entirely on mDNS discovery, which can occasionally fail — especially in segmented or bridged network environments (for example, dual-router or isolated audio LAN setups).
Other network-based audio ecosystems such as Roon or OpenHome (LINN / LUMIN apps) handle this more robustly by maintaining a “Known Hosts” list.
These apps remember previously connected server IPs and attempt direct reconnection before falling back to network discovery.
This allows stable reconnection even when mDNS packets are filtered or delayed.
It would be extremely helpful if Audirvāna Remote could implement a similar feature:
-
Remember previously connected server(s) (IP address and port)
-
Allow manual entry of a host/IP if discovery fails
-
Optionally support multiple saved hosts for quick switching
Such functionality would make headless Linux installations truly reliable for always-on audio systems.
Thank you for considering this improvement — it would make a huge difference for users running Audirvāna on dedicated network-isolated servers.
Best regards,
yas
