Hallo,
ich habe seit einiger Zeit den Player Audirvana, den ich aber erst jetzt erst beginne, richtig zu nutzen.
Audirvana möchte ich nutzen, hochwertige Files ohne Verluste abzuspielen und es soll irgendwann meinen CD-Spieler komplett ersetzen.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich, was die Begrifflichkeit und technischen Zusammenhänge anbelangt, ein totaler Laie bin. Das ist für mich als analogen Menschen totales Neuland.
Darf ich bitte ein paar Fragen stellen?

  1. Ich nutze Audirvana mit der Benutzeroberfläche von iTunes, auch was die Dateiverwaltung anbelangt. Jetzt muss ich dazu die CDs ja mit iTunes importieren, weil sie ja sonst von iTunes nicht erkannt werden. Als Import-Format wähle ich AIFF.
    Ist das der richtige Weg?
  2. Audirvana erkennt Musikstücke, die ich über den iTunes-Store gekauft habe, nicht. Gibt es da eine Lösung?
  3. Ich würde gerne den Audirvana-Player über mein iPad oder mein iPhone fernsteuern, als diese gerate als Fernbedienung nutzen.
    Geht das, und wie?

You can use AIFF so you will have good audio quality with the tracks you got from your CD. Those file will be playable in Audirvana.

There are tracks that can’t be played outside of iTunes (they are thus skipped in Audirvana):

  • the DRM protected tracks (usually files ending with .m4p), due to the copy protection mechanism, like the ones coming from Apple Music

  • the iCloud/iTunes Match tracks, using an iTunes specific protocol for retrieving the audio data. To get them to play in Audirvana, you need to download all the songs you want to play thru Audirvana into your computer library by clicking the cloud icon present showing the album is in the cloud, not the library.

  • the tracks in a Home Sharing library, for same reason (using an Apple non public sharing protocol). If you are using this, there is a workaround that consists in sharing the audio files on the server (to be able to access them from the Finder on the client Mac), and then import the track files in iTunes, or just add the shared folder to the synchronized list in the Library page of Audirvana preferences. This way, standard file sharing protocol is used, and Audirvana is able to access the audio files.

  1. Don’t rip your CDs in AIFF. Rip CDs in FLAC using XLD or dBporweramp. The CDs will be ripped lossless, and you’ll be saving some storage space. In addition to that FLAC has better metadata support.

  2. Yes, just map the folder containing the purchased files that are in m4a format. The files in m4p format can’t be imported as those are DRM protected.

  3. Yes, just connect the Audirvana remote app with the Audirvana on your Mac.
