Sound broken in 2.2.2

After some checks, I discovered that the broken sound I got from the latest AS version is not coming from the remote app but from the app itself.

I went back to 3.5 and everything is fine, with the remote in the loop: no broken sound.

Finally, 3.5 is not bad, and available for free.

Hello @patifr,

Can you send us a copy of the “Debug Info” when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Dear Antoine,

Here it is. Captured just after the beginning of the broken sound.

You have this behavior with any output you select?

What do you mean by “any output”? I tried on another player this morning and the problem did not appear after 15’ of playing time.
I confirmed the problem is present (or at least appears after a short period of time) with the TotalDac streamer, but this problem never appeared before with that configuration.
After the problem poped up again with AS 3.2.2, I made a test with A3.5 with the same configuration and no problem at all. So, it seems that the problem is coming from AS 3.2.2.

I mean by other output those three :point_up_2:

I used the first one as I mentionned in my previous post. After 15’ or less I did not observe any problem.
I did not check the Device#1. Should I?

And what is also strange with that version is the frequent inability to detect some devices that are available on the network.
I quit A3.5 to go back to AS2.2.2 and the device #0 was not detected although it was still on and used this morning by AS.
I had to restart the app for the device to be detected.

Ok, just and idea here: would it be possible that the observed problem comes from the unwanted use of a wifi connection instead of the wired one?
I cannot see in the debug file any mention of the network link to connect to the devices. But, when restarting AS2.2.2, I noticed it listed the devices from the wifi connection and not from the 'ethernet" one. That could explain why it could not find device#0 which is not directly reachable by wifi.
That’s strange as I never use the wifi link when running AS, or at least I forgot to check it.

I restarted a test on device #2 with wifi inactive on the computer running AS. Let’s see what happens.

OK, after several tests, it seems that wifi is the suspect.
1- In Wifi mode, on device #0, no problem appeared
2- In Wifi mode, on device #3, after a while, sound is broken

Certainly due to a local buffer smaller on device #3 than on device #0.

So, I went to AS, selecting from the main interface the “ethernet” option and the same device (Device#3): problem went back again

I restarted AS, and select the device#3 with “ethernet” option selected: it works.

I suspect that when you change the network option, the list of devices is not updated, and in my case, altough I was on “ethernet”, the app picked up device#3 but through the wifi.

To be sure, I switched wifi off on the computer running AS. Will see.

Could be an interesting feature to have somewhere the indication of the selected device together with the network I/F in use.

I’m experiencing same issue, broken/garbled sound after some time of playback occurs. Restarting the app helps for some time but then again sounds becomes broken. This doesn’t happen in the previous 2.2.1 and older 3.5 versions.

Hi Tyrro,
And Happy New year by the way !! And to all Audirvana fans as well.

Did you check which network I/F you are using when you have the issue? As I said above, in my case the WIFI connection was the culprit. So I switched wifi off on the Mac mini where AS is installed. And I did not face the problem since that.
Or, it may also be the player: on my Marantz NA11-S1 I have to power cycle the unit from time to time (Power cycling in the hard way: unplug the power cable, wait 10s and plug it back).

I suspect that some implementations of the UpNp protocol are not perfect, or the standard may leave space for interpretations, creating some incompatibilities.

Happy New Year to you as well!

No I didn’t. As I said the previous ver 2.2.1 and older 3.5 have no issue, enabled wifi or disabled, it doesn’t matter. The issue is definitely with the new version. If developers what to find out when it happens to troubleshoot it then it’s a different story but I’m not going to turn my WiFi off just to play my files, I’ll just go back to 2.2.1 or 3.5 until the issue is fixed.

Yes, you are right. I have no issue with Wifi on 3.5, only with AS. So, switching wifi off is just a workaround.
Note that you are not forced to switch wifi off on the machine, you can just select devices on “ethernet” in AS.
New versions always bring some issues…
