Ticking noises during playback to Chromecast Audio

Can anyone give me some advice how to get rid of these random high ticking noises during playback. I am new to Audirvana Studio, but am an absolute fan of Audirvana 3.5 for years now.

Today, after installing the v.2.3 trail and playing some my music HD files I randomly hear ticking sounds randomly coming from either my left and/or right speaker. My output goes to a Chromecast Audio, connected within a single ended Ethernet wired network.

After some testing using either the DNLA/Upnp or Chromecast protocol it only occurred while “casting” directly to my Chromecast Audio, which is a new feature since Audirvana Studio/Origin 2.0. @Antoine Is this a common phenomenon?

I will continue to test, because my experience of the R8 sound is quite positive and favorable in comparison with Sox in Audirvana 3.5. Keep up the good work!

Hi @E.Abrahamse,

Can you send us a copy of the “Debug Info” when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Hi Antoine,

Thank you for your quick response. I send you the Debug info scan from today. I have investigated what could have an impact on these ticks. As far as I have experienced up till now they occur randomly. It is not dependent on file size, nor sample rate or sample frequency. I have played various albums in MP3 up till DSD512. Now I stream to the Chromecast Audio exclusively (not via BubbleUPnP). These high pitching ticks are only occurring while using Audirvana Studio in conjunction its new Direct Chromecast feature.
I happen to be an audible hyper sensitive as small imperfections and glitches are heard immediately by me. Maybe you can shed some light on possible solutions. I am loving the gapless playing in this Chromecast mode.

As you already know, my ‘no connection’ has been resolved by restarting my network amongst other checks.

Have a nice weekend, to all of you on Audirvana.com!

Kind regards, Erwin

@Antoine After having tested Audirvana Studio 2.3, I am very, very happy with the overall sound and soundstage on my system. The high ticking noises still occur on a regular basis.

What is quite interesting is that Audirvana Studio 2.3 is far less stable than Audirvana 3.5. It crashed violently on me for 3 times in the last week or so. Audirvana 3.5.50 never crashed to my knowing.

It is also less responsive (beach balling) in many occasions on a iMac I7 with 24 Mb of memory. The cache I set for preloading is 4Mb. Does this setting have any impact on sluggishness whatsoever?

Could you please look into this matter? If you need more feedback (like bug reports with the next crash, please let me know. Your help is tremendously appreciated as it could also address general issues.

Ok, then I will need the crash log generated by Audirvāna Studio when you have the crash. You can find it in the Console app of MacOS under the utilities folder in the applications.

Please send the crash log at support@audirvana.com
