Update 2.99.19.0 Declared Infected by Anti-virus Software

Just tried to update to the 2.99.19.0 version (from 2.99.18.0)…my antivirus quarantined it, but I got it out of quarantine. And it disappeared! Now it won’t open from anywhere (my PC or the website). Right now, I have reinstalled 2.99.18.0 (did not uninstall 2.99.19.0).I am getting a strange message from my anti-virus app about this new update. Note: I have added audirvana.com to my list of exceptions in the anti-virus:

Interesting, I will ask Damien about it.

This is probably a false positive, it is based on behavioural analysis by Bitdefender and flags the file as behaving suspiciously, it has not detected a known virus string. Most often occurs during installation of software with Bit Defenders heuristic engine.

Suggest someone with a different av scanner on Windows checks the file. Checked the DMG and Audirvana on a Mac and was reported clean.

Can you please restore the file so it won’t be quarantined again for other users from Bitdefender and anti-virus related to it.

Bitdefender considers it a .dll file…and I am not sure how to proceed…

If you select all of them and click restore, is that enough?

No, I get the ‘Failed to find the specified path message.’

Also, when I provided Bitdefender with audirvana.com as the address to exclude from the anti-virus function, is that the actual source address for the updates?

Plus…this message:

UPDATE: I was able to get access to the file specified by Bitdefender (by changing permission status in Windows) and AS 2.99.18.0 loads but 2.99.19.0 is still regarded as a threat by Bitdefender and is quarantined as soon as I try to update from .18 to .19. I can only load .19 AFTER it is declared infected by accessing the quarantine files. So, yes, I have .19 up and running, but I have no idea why Bitdefender should have an issue with this update when no updates or installations from Audirvana have ever been suspect. I wonder if others may run into this problem

You can submit the file to the Bitdefender threat scanner to confirm if it is a false positive. One of the main reasons I stopped using Bit Defender was the shear number of false positives, from a marketing perspective the more paranoia you can instill in your user base the more likely they are to keep subscribing.

After submitting to Bit Defenders labs they often, in the event of a false positive, will issue updated signatures within a day or so.

DJM1960: Done!

I have the same problem. I contacted Bitdefender support but from experience I know they are very slow to respond.

I got a reply from Bitdefender, as follows (note: they claim that 2.99.18.0 and 2.99.19.0 are not blocked, but they definitely did block .19 on my PC, and that of Bogdanozaurus too, it seems):

Also for me the same problem: an ‘infected’ item ‘detected’ by Bitdefender and quarentined. Unable to start Studio. Several attempts not succesfully.

After removing Bitdefender I could install AudirvanavStudio succesfully to 2.99.19.0

But…..now I cannot add audio files to the list of folders.

I also received a response from Bitdefender:

“Our Malware team has completed the analysis of the file you reported to us. After a thorough check, we have confirmed that the file is safe and the detection will be removed in the next product updates.

The initial detection was a false positive.

Thank you for reporting this situation to us, as reports like yours help us maintain the accuracy and reliability of our security services”

Now let’s hope that the update will not be delayed too much
