Volume up button makes volume go down

Hey I’ve been using Audirvana Studio on my Mac for a couple of days. It says I’m on the latest version (1.10.2). It’s all working great for me except for the volume up button.

In the interface when I press the volume up button the volume goes down. When not using the slider there is no way to make the volume go up.

This issue extends to my remote control, I cannot make the volume go up with my IR remote.

BTW I’m using software volume control.

Hello @maarten,

Can you try to change the Volume control +/- step to 1.0 dB?

I just tried some things and I found the error. I have a volume limit set to 30%, when I put this to 100% it all functions normally.

Something else I found: The ‘Volume control +/- step’ does not change (visually) until I toggle the ‘Software Volume Control’ switch or press one of the volume buttons.

Can you send us a copy of the “Debug Info” when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

This is what is going wrong:
Volume limit is set to 33%, volume max is -9,7 dB.
Volume control step is 1,0 dB.

On max volume when I press the volume - button the new volume is -20,3 dB
On max volume when I press the volume + button the new volume is -18,3 dB.
There is a difference of 2 dB between volume - and volume +, however 9,6 dB needs to be added to make it correct, which I think is a rounding error of volumeMax, so in short:

correct volume = volume - volumeMax

In light of the above I think the debug info is not necessary, you should be able to easily replicate this issue.

No, because volume issue can come up from the DAC itself, this is why I need the debug info.

Sorry but no, I have just given you a detailed description of the steps needed to reproduce, which is very simple. I have it set to software volume control, this is not a DAC issue.

I’m afraid I can’t help you more if you don’t want to give me your debug info. This is a really important part of the debug process so please post it. The info you gave me are useful but without the debug info, I can’t understand the whole configuration you have.

If you say so, it’s just that I do not think this is relevant and believe that if you do the simple steps outlined above you’ll notice this is a general issue. I tried switching the output to the internal DAC of the Mac which did not make a difference.

Thanks for the debug info, I have been able to reproduce the issue on my side. I will report it to Damien to fix it as soon as possible.

Alright, thanks for looking into it!
