What is Hog mode?

Hi
Does someone know what ā€œHog modeā€ is ?
In the debug info it seems to be on by default, but I canā€™t find any details about this mode.

Hog Mode sets the Audirvāna audio-engine as the only audio source for outputā€¦ No system alerts, pings, dings, rings, etc, are passed to output.
