Can someone help me with an issue here. One of the reasons I bought Audirvana was because I was told it sent raw data over the USB connection to my DAC, not analog audio. But Audirvana allows me to apply AU or VST effects to the audio stream BEFORE it gets to the DAC. How is this possible if it is only sending data – wouldn’t effects need to be applied after the DAC conversion?
Hello @penta,
The AU or VST3 effect are applied before upsampling (if activated) and the data is then sent to your DAC.
Thanks. I guess I don’t understand how reverb, EQ, or other effects can be applied to FLAC data before it gets to the DAC (I use a DAC-IT-X). My DAC is supposed to correct for jitter and other incoming data issues. How can it do that if reverb or EQ has been applied to the incoming audio data?
It applies generic jitter reduction techniques, it doesn’t depend on a specific data.
