Which do I choose?

Hi to all, just joined and having just discovered Audirvana I am using the 30 day free trial with Origin and studio on the pc. So far I think it`s great. I`m sending the signal to an Audiolab D9 and then on to a power amp. It was a breeze to configure the WASAPI driver, and whilst I use Apple music as a shared user on my wifes account, I am looking at using Qobuz when I make the Audirvana purchase. This brings me around to asking, I see there are three options on the website, Studio at a monthly price, Access at an upfront yearly payment, or Origin. Am I right in thinking that the Access is virtually the same as the studio version regarding features? I guess the Studio which works out at £20 more a year is to cover admin costs? And lastly, if I go to make the purchase via the link at the top of the main studio trial screen, will it give me the option to buy the Access version does anyone know?

There are two versions of Audirvāna. Audirvāna Studio and Audirvāna Origin.

Difference is that Studio has integration of four streaming services (Qobuz, Tidal, Hi Res Audio and Presto).

Origin is purchased by a one time fee. Studio is available only as a subscription model. That subscription model is available in two versions: a monthly fee or a yearly fee. That’s what you see described as Studio Classic and Studio Access. I personally find it somewhat confusing names, but Classic is the monthly fee and Access is the yearly fee (which is in the end 17% cheaper than monthly) but you have to pay upfront and there’s no restitution when you decide to leave Audirvāna during that year. It’s just another business model.

For you to decide whether you want Origin (no streaming services, only your local files) or Studio. When you choose Studio there’s no need to purchase Origin as well, as Studio also offers the playing of local files.

If you choose Studio then you would logically also subscribe to one of the integrated streaming services and perhaps even a complete switch from Apple Music to Qobuz or Tidal might be a logical consequence to avoid double subscriptions.

Thanks for the clarification, yeh I am happy to pay upfront for the Studio Access. Im on my wifes Apple account so do not pay anything anyhow, and 17% is 17% at the end of the day
