Yet another problem with playing file endings

So, I’ve managed to find yet another problem with Audirvana playing Qobuz files.

Qobuz - Prince - Parade (Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack…)
Track 5, ‘Girls and Boys’ is meant to segue in time straight into track 6 ‘Life can be so nice’. It doesn’t. The timing is completely messed up. You’ll have to listen to the CD to hear how it goes. The beat essentially continues from one track to the next. Streamed via Audirvana (or through Qobuz’s own app) it doesn’t. Not good.
There are several Prince albums which make use of either a continuous ~45 mins of music nominally split into songs, but actually one single uninterrupted piece of music (LoveSexy) or where some tracks connect to others (Parade, Sign ‘o’ the Times). I haven’t tried all of them yet. I don’t hold out much hope. These are 20/30 year old pieces of music which modern streaming is mangling. I’m not very impressed.

Hello @dominicperry, i couldn’t reproduced your issue, how do you connect to your DAC? you are using a USB or your thunderbolt connection?

Hi Damien.

I’m connecting with USB, direct to the RME ADI-2 PRO fs DAC.

I have another problem with re-ordering tracks in a playlist - I’ll try to be more specific in another post, but I end up with 10-15 seconds of playback - 5 seconds each of 2-3 buffered songs playing when they shouldn’t.

The whole buffering routine seems to be easily upset.

Dominic

Why have you disabled those features? Can you enable it in your audio setting in Audirvana and run a test again?

Damien,

I disabled Exclusive access because I wanted other programmes to be able to use the interface, and I disabled Integer mode because the ADI-Pro2 uses 32 bit float - although I have no idea if that’s what this feature relates to.
Anyway, I turned them both on again, and tried the test and it made no difference.
I also tried the native Qobuz application, and that also makes a mess of the two tracks running together, so that points to it being a fault with Qobuz streaming rather than Audirvana.
From what I have read elsewhere, this is an ongoing issue with streaming services and of particular concern to people who listen to a lot of classical music where track end/start is just a point in time on a continuous stream…

Dominic
