Audirvāna Studio et Cambridge audio

Bonjour Damien,
Cordialement

I have an issue with the same device as well. It is shown as an output device, but after I have selected it, nothing happens when I start playing. I receive a message ‘Loading first track’ and then it pauses.

My French isn’t up to much …

I have a CXN v1 same issue , loading track then nothing

The issues was resolved in the meantime. It looks like I was still running Twonky Media Server. I have closed it and now I can stream to my CXN V2 without issues.

To docjlt: I will contact Cambridge anyhow to check their interest in integrating a tool that focuses on sound quality.

It shouldn’t be a matter of integration. CA devices support UPnP/DLNA and always have.

I run a DNLA server which my CXN plays happily. Audirvana 3.5 plays to the CXN happily

AS simply sees the CXN as a renderer but does not play to it. This is not a Cambridge Audio problem.

What operating system are you running , mine is Windows 10. I just disable all other server startups (ie no DLNA servers, no Roon server) and rebooted I still can’t get anything to play. I haven’t disabled SQL Server I doubt that should bother things .

It will play to my RPi running Ropieee XL in DLNA Mode

@Antoine

Now I translated …

Isn’t Audirvana Studio standard UPnP ? , why should 3.5 work but not AS

In the meantime I discovered that another issue may be at the cause of the problem I reported earlier:
when I open AS and I first select an album for playback from My Music>Albums, I encounter the issue that I reported earlier (so, it pauses after having sent the message ‘Loading first track’).
But I do not encounter this issue when I first select a Favourite from Qobuz nor with a Local album.
After I have been playing a Favourite from Qobuz or a Local album, I can select an album from My Music>Albums. Is this a bug?

The problem comes from Cambridge which has not integrated Audirvana into its streamers. Cambridge support must be contacted. The more of us there are, the more they will make an effort to solve the problem.

As far as I am aware Audirvana is offers a standard UPnP Protocol , at least 3.5 did. So any renderer that supports UPnP should work with it.

It makes no sense to have a protocol that requires a specific hardware configuration

The CXN is recognized by Audirvana as a UPnP Device along with all its available sampling rates etc

This playback issue must be a software buig not a hardware shortfall and as such CA can do nothing about it.

Another UPnP renderer on my system works fine

UPnP implementation in Audirvana has been discussed many times as it generates many incompatibilities towards various hardware.
I’ve created a topic several weeks ago after more than a year trying to figure it out, to gather incompatibilities (back then it was for 3.5).

https://community.audirvana.com/t/a-dlna-in-compatibility-list/

Interestingly enough, while Damien’s statement was that it was all in the manufacturers’ hands, Audirvana Studio behaves differently with UPnP devices, which tends to show Audirvana might have a faulty implementation on its side.

A concise review thanks.

My issue is that Cambridge Audio hasn’t changed from 3.5 to AS but playback has stopped.

I have used my CXN from a JRiver Media Server for literally years using the CXN firmware. The only Firmware change recently was to add Tidal Connect (3 months ? ago). Since then perfect response.

I can connect using Audirvana 3.5, and it behaves normally. I try with Audirvana Studio I get nothing . The logical outcome is that if the hardware hasn’t changed the UPnP implementation in AS must be different to 3.5

Over to Audirvana. I can’t evaluate the product since I can’t even play it to my system

I am going to buy a CXN V2 next week. This is very bad news. Has there been no progress?

Simply no, I gave up at the end of the trial

The V2 is Roon Ready plus DNLA compatible

In this thread I read that in v2 disabling MQA could work fine. I have asked @jdt to see if he can expand the information. I hope this issue is a priority and will be fixed as soon as possible. I would not want to have to switch to Roon.

Out of interest cost apart why not , I have used Roon for 5 years , it is a superb piece of software albeit some people think it expensive . $120 a year ??.

Try it for a couple of months , you will find it hard to stop !!

I have v2 in my hands for a couple of days now and it has some bugs, but it is usable. For example when for some unknown reason it doesn’t start playback at the beginning of the session I open JRiver, play a track for a few seconds, close JRIver, open Audirvana Studio and it works. I have also disabled MQA in AS as indicated by another user. Disable or enable Roon compatibility in v2 as well as other parameters, don’t affect.
