Exciting News: Public Beta Launch for Audirvāna Android Remote App!

Pas mal de msg comme : “Erreur de la requête HTTP GET…” à chaque retour de veille, depuis la dernière version

Running the latest update of the remote on Android tablet and Pixel phone. When viewing a playlist and selecting a track to play next, an Error 400 message appears and the track is not played next. This occurs on both. Number of tracks in the playlist doesn’t seem to matter.

Do you have a mix of Local and streaming tracks in this playlist?

J’avais oublié de le noter mais la Remote me divise par 2 la durée de la batterie, en mode juste posé sur le bureau à côté du MacMini et avec Bluetooth désactivé

All the tracks in the playlists are stored on the PC running Audirvana

Minor UI bug. The letters of ‘Settings’ don’t turn purple when choosing this.

First of all, well done! This new (beta) remote app looks and works significantly better than the original. The previous was so bad I personally could not think of using it on a regular basis.

Now a couple of bugs, firstly the EQ works great, but when I tap save I get a prompt “loading….” And it gets stuck. It’s currently resolved by restarting the remote app.

Another issue is adding songs to favourites. If you favourite a song while viewing the album, then tap on the now playing view, the favourite button does not reflect the change.

Another issue when I tap on the now playing banner at the bottom, sometimes it skips a track. This seemed to only happen if I had just selected a track in album view.

One final issue that has actually been present before the beta, is that if you leave your phone screen off for an extended amount of time android will put the app to sleep which breaks your connection. The app currently doesn’t recover from this very well, getting stuck and requiring you to reopen the app. My current solution has been to go into app settings and enable unrestricted background usage for the app.

For now I think that’s it, please keep up with the great work!

When you say “save,” are you referring to the preset?

Are you favorite the playing song in the album or the album itself?

This one is tricky. Are you able to reproduce this all the time?

I will see what we can do about it.

Hi Antoine, I can confirm the findings by @Thecornishginger .

Just something to take into consideration; I am using a Pixel 8a. If you can’t reproduce it and you are not using a Pixel, then maybe that’s where the issue is?

Hello, thanks for your keen interest in working out these issues! I am happy to help out in any way possible.

Regarding your first question, I am referring to the main ‘save’ and ‘cancel’ prompt at the bottom of the screen, not the ‘save preset…’ button.

Regarding your second question, if you pick an album, then pick a song to start playing, then favourite the currently playing song, then head to the now playing view, the song is not shown as a favourite. It has however still added the song to my favourites if I go directly to my favourites.

Now for your third quesiton. To reproduce this issue I found you must first enable shuffle, then select a song to play, then go to the now playing view, I found this reproducable every time on my device.

As for the last issue, I am by no means an expert, but I do have some limited experience with app and webapp development. Personally I would expect this solvable by asking for’ ‘unrestricted battery usage’ via android’s app permissions. I managed to find an article that should explain this better than I can. Please feel free to follow this link and refer to the section ‘Support for other use cases’. https://developer.android.com/training/monitoring-device-state/doze-standby#:~:text=Users%20can%20manually%20configure%20the,list%20by%20calling%20isIgnoringBatteryOptimizations()%20

Lastly I would also like to thank @Amarok1969 for spending some time to confirm my issues, and of course the hard work of yourself and the entire audirvana team.

Can you send us a copy of the "Debug Info“ when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account.

Note: When you click on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content. Please paste it in response to this message.

I could reproduce this. Thank you for the clarification.

We may have fixed this, but an update of the Remtoe is on its way for it, as I can’t reproduce this on my end, either from Local or streaming tracks.

I will see with our developer over this.

The back button on Android should never quit the app unless you’re on the last page. As it stands, I keep accidentally closing the app while navigating, even though the standard across the Android ecosystem works differently.

I’m 100% with you on this. I will see if we can fix this asap.

Can you please update to the beta version of Audirvāna Studio and let me know if you get the same behavior?

@Antoine Hi, with my desktop client now updated to beta 2.99.20 I’m happy to report the issue with the remote app getting stuck on loading after saving a change to my EQ is now resolved. The other issues are still present for now. I have also found two new issues and one possible improvement to be considered.

The first issue relates to what is shown under artists when you tap on their page. Sometimes I only get a biography, sometimes I get top tracks, other times I’m missing their albums/singles. It seems to happen consistently if I restart the app and go straight to an artist’s page. I also noticed if a list of albums is shown it’s not always complete.

The second issue related to the EQ’s realtime mode. When I go onto the EQ and enable realtime, then start to play a track, I am immediately taken off the EQ screen, and the button to access it is grayed out until I stop the song and unlock the device.

Finally an improvement I would really appreciate is to add an explicit symbol in the thumbnails of albums. Tidal already does this on their app by using a little ‘E’ symbol and it’s incredibly helpful when I’m trying to pick the clean version of an album. Thanks for your time.

It’s something I already reported to our developer

I get it’s not that intuitive. To display it, you must go to the playing track view and tap the three-dot signal processing

It’s something we need to improve.

It’s something that has been asked, and we need to discuss it internally before going further. How about an option to hide explicit content?

Thanks for your quick reply :slightly_smiling_face:

Personally I don’t use the option to removal all explicit content as some songs are explicit but aren’t as obvious about it. A good example is Pink Floyd’s DSOTM, the first track is technically explicit and is labeled as such on tidal, but in reality it’s barely heard and in that case I’m happy to ignore it. I hope that makes sense. If you worry about how users will react, maybe explicit tags could be optional from settings?

When you select a track in the favorites list, the list will reposition to the top. It would more logic to remain at the same position in the list.
