Hi @Antoine and @Damien I just want to say thanks for this fantastic update. I know some of these new features involved a lot of work, and will continue to involve a bit more work to get perfect, but this is looking really great.
Just installed and started.
In the German localization, there is not enough space in the column for “Wiedergabelisten”. And even Tidal calls it “Playlisten” in German. MacOS 15.7.3, screen size 1920x1200.
Having used the beta now since its release I must say I am extremely impressed with the re-organisation of the app which is a very considerable improvement. Have tried crossfeed and DSP which I would not normally use and I can say the for me they work beautifully as advertised. A very considerable and signficant upgrade by the team that adds significant value to Audirvana Studio. Well done!
I would have one more suggestion surrounding playlists in addition to my personal dislike of the inability to have font sizes compatible with the macOS default fonts via a “small” font setting in Settings/Appearance.
It would be great if the playlist view was laid out similar to the folder view option. With a left hand column showing all the playlists (similar to the list of folders) with the main window showing the tracks in the selected playlist. This would make it easier to scroll through a large list of playlists to find the one you wish to play.
I’m interested to test out this beta version, but reluctant to do anything that might damage my metadata, and I want to be sure I can revert to the non-beta version of the software if necessary.
On macOS, are there any particular safety steps that need to be taken when reverting, or can I simply close one version of the app and open the other?
Antoine, this is what I see when clicking on the playlists icon in the sidebar. I then click on the playlist to view the tracks. Would be more efficient for those with large numbers of playlists to have a similar layout to the folder view.
@Tomasz_Lipowski Welcome…
Interesting…
Please paste your debug information here so folks can see your resource allocations and configurations… Also, a brief description of your network scheme if using UPnP for playback…
@Djm1960 I see both sides of this… Some like using file hierarchy displays, as this is their normal workflow… Personally, I don’t like the density of such large file displays and generally use column views… I like that I first get a top-level folder view and worse-case use Spotlight…
Yes I agree it is all about personal preferences. I seem to recall several users in the past used to open the playlist window in AS 2.x and then place it over the sidebar vacant area to view more of their playlists and then scroll through the playlist pane. Having the option to view them in both the current format or with an option more like the folder view would be advantageous for those with large numbers of playlists. With my default graphic size I can see about 21 playlists on a screen. In the folder view sidebar with the current defaults you can see about 31 for those with large numbers of playlists (I am not one of them) the “folder view” style may be preferable, even in my case the lack of a distracting graphic makes the folder tree list easier to navigate quickly.
