No. A friend of mine has these streaming services, and is constantly being bombarded with āyou may like thisā or according what you just listened toā type stuff, and as far as I can tell, the algorithms seem very biased towards what the content owners are trying to boost/sell.
I like to discover things in my own time, in my own way, which I then download for offline listening, or if not available as download, Iāll buy the CD and rip it.
Thank you!
Last.fm is not a streaming service and does not send emails with recommendations, your friend probably refers to other providers.
āLast.fm features a personal recommendations page that is only visible to the user concerned and lists suggested new music and events, all tailored to the userās own preferences. Recommendations are calculated using a collaborative filtering algorithm so users can browse and hear previews of a list of artists not listed on their own profiles but which appear on those of others with similar musical tastes.ā
And send notifications, I believe. But either way, itās not something I would subscribe to.
They donāt send anything unless thereās a way to ask for that⦠Iāve been using Last FM for ages and I think I never heard from them. Not even trying to get me to sign up for the paid versionā¦
But itās an internet connection to a service, so I guess thatās why it exists only on the Studio version.
You donāt get suggestions and recommendations based on your listening? I thought that was the whole point of scrobbling, or do I miss something.
Donāt use the service in all honesty, but that was also my impression:

My pal uses Spotify, and most of the suggestions he gets bear no connection to what heās been listening to, well not to me, some of the connections are really obscure. Because you listened to joe strummer, hereās joe dolce!

You get recommandation on your last.fm profile based on your scrobble, you get those recommandations on their website, they are not in AudirvÄna Studio.
Thatās a shame. I am not a fan of all this streaming content tabs and simpler local content tabs, and much prefer Origins layout and would use that if it had Last.fm support,
Why youāre at it Antoine, could you add twiiter/facebook intigration so i can share my favourites? and email as well?
Oh, and a built in web browser so i can search for new stuff that way. In fact anything that weould mean I didnāt have to switch to a different application to do something. itās so tedious.
Regards.
Many people use/like Last.fm and asked for this feature. Qobuz also has Last.fm integration. If you donāt like/need it donāt use it. I think may be useful for some people, for example I can see on my phone all the tracks played with Qobuz and Audirvana, various statistics, recommendations. Itās very easy to turn off/on and the impact on resources is minimal.
I thought the whole point of Origin is to being able to play locally without using an internet connection. Doesnāt that blurr the lines?
Maybe it would be an option in Studio to have more freedom in defining which tabs one wants to see? Now I think about it, that wouldnāt hurt in Origin either
.
before digital, did people keep a log book of what music they had listened to? and when? kind of serious question. the ācontent suppliersā have basically created a world where a large part advertising is carried out by the consumers themselves.
I mean just a simple connection to send the info to the Last.fm servers. I am hands down an archivist with an extensive local collection that wants to play my local content over streaming content. I miss the more in-depth tabs for local content, as like having all my high res content be seen in one exclusive tab.
I did, way before Last.fm, manually adding a note after each CD listen. I like being able to look back and reflect on the past year.
I donāt even remember what I listened to yesterday!
To each their own - no need to generalise - Last.fm is a useful tool (for some people)
Iāve never suggested otherwise⦠each to their own as you say.
