Musical Fidelity MX-DAC ASIO Driver not detected

Hello

I’m having an issue with the trial version of Audirvana not recognizing the ASIO driver of my Musical Fidelity MX-DAC. Also, as this is also a DSD128 dac, when selecting the WASAPI driver Audirvana does not recognize the DSD128 format. It only sees DSD64. When trying to play a DSD128 file it gets down converted to PCM. I have tried using Jriver and don,t have any of these issues. Jriver recognizes the ASIO driver as well all the DSD formats supported by the DAC. This seems to be a problem with the Audirvana software as Jriver sees the dac with no problem. Please help. Would lie to use Audrvana for Qobuz integration.

Thank You

Hello @synekpol,

Can you send your debug info while you have selected your Music Fidelity ASIO driver?

Can you try with a different AISO driver like the one from ASIO4ALL?

Still, it does not recognise DSD128.

Can you disable DSD over PCM?

It allows me to do that but will automatically down convert all DSD files to 176

Okay, can you try to reinstall Audirvana using the link https://audirvana.com/try/ ?

Ok. I just tried that. Accepts DSD64 but is still down converting DSD128 to 176.

Have you checked if you have the latest driver from Musical Fidelity?

Yes. I downloaded it from their website. Works with no issues with Jriver

When you select your device in Audirvana, do you have JRiver opened? Can you close it and reopen Audirvana and check if you now see the DSD capabilities?

Yes. I tried doing that. I even uninstalled the Jriver. but still, same result

When you are using JRiver, what is the output you select on their interface?

DoP

If you are using a ASIO driver you should not be forced to use DoP as you won’t have full DSD capability with DoP. If you deactivate the option, what are the capabilities of your DAC in Jriver?

If I disable Dop I can’t playback DSD files

This then means there is a problem with this driver as the purpose of ASIO is to not have to play in DoP with DSD track. You should contact Musical Fidelity about it as this is not a normal behavior.

OK great. I will do that.
