Networking DSD MacMini With Streamer. AirLens

Is there a step by step or How To use a streamer to access a MacMini for DSD audio?
I am buying the PS AirLens and want to stream my music (DSD) from the Mac.
Using Audirvāna and Qobuz.
Thanks.

Hi @Jeffrey1,

DSD over UPNP depends on the streamer itself and can be easily checked when you are using our app.

Can you send us a copy of the “Debug Info” when you selected your device? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this email

I just ordered a PS Audio AirLens.
I probably will have Wednesday. May I get with you then?
I want an idea when it shows up so I can setup without being in the dark on this. (Clueless)
Sending debug info now would be no help I take it.
Thank you for your reply.

I will be personally available during France business days

I appreciate your time.

Hi, I have my AirLens online, I would appreciate it you can look at my Debug info.
It seems to be ok, once in a while Audirivana doesn’t want to work too well.
Trying to listen to my favorite playlist the next track will play, but doesn’t display on Audirvana program on Mac.
Also will skip past from Qobuz track to Qobuz track with a Local DSD track in the middle.

Thank you, Jeff

Set this to DoP 1.1

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

I have that set with the usb connection.
There isn’t a setting for this when connected to the AirLens.

This is connected 2nd pic is AirLens.
Thank you.

Hi @Jeffrey1,

Can you enable the option “Do not use Raw…”; “Fix for devices…” and Universal Gapless Playback…" and tell us if you still get your behavior?

You will not be able to play DSD256 via DoP 1.1 because the AirLens only supports the DoP PCM carrier sample-rate of 352.8kHz which is the carrier frequency for 5.6MHz (DSD128)… So your “Maximum PCM Rate” should be set to 352.8kHz and “Maximum PCM Bitdepth” should be set to 32 bit. And in the case of AirLens connected to the macOS platform, the “Maximum DSD Rate” should be set to DSD128…

Audio Interface
• PCM: Up to 352.8kHz/32
• Native DSD up to DSD256 (I2S output)
• DoP (DSD over PCM) up to DSD128 (Coax output)

The DAC you are connecting the AirLens to, must be able to support DSD128 via the coaxial S/PDIF input of the device… Otherwise the DAC is probably throttled by the coaxial S/PDIF input to DSD64 (2.8MHz) which is very common.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

I am playing DSD 256, Audirvāna shows it as well as my DAC.
I’m using I2S to my DAC

Okay… But the Mac platform is dependent on DoP to transmit DSDxxx, if AirLens supports up to 352.8Khz how are you delivering 11.2MHz DSD256 via DoP? I see where the user sets the DSD priority on the device, but the user guide does not elaborate on the DoP capability when set-up for this function… Does your DAC show that it is playing 11.2MHz (DSD256)? Is there something missing in the user guide that describes playback of DSD256 via DoP? I know that Audirvana is capable of packetizing DSD256 and DSD512 via DoP.

Yes, PS audio Direct stream Mark ll and shows 256. No problem there.
At times when playing (Streaming) and next track is DSD it will start to play, then skip to streaming track. I can play Album after album 256, no problem.

I did that today, it got worse. I would stream a Qobuz track and then go to 256 local. It played 2 notes and stop and go to the next Qobuz track.
I tried different switches leaving one on and others off, one by one.
The best is the way it was before. It usually plays, but sometimes doesn’t.

Thank you.

Right… but the AirLens only supports the 352.8kHz carrier sample-rate… The AirLens user guide does not state anything about accepting DSD256 via DoP… The Mark II does show DSD256 DoP capability via USB as it supports the PCM carrier sample-rate for DSD256 which is 705.6kHz…

There isn’t USB , but it does that also.
Here is the spec for AirLens.

This does not state DSD256 via DoP capability… and it shows PCM capability to 352.8kHz

I’m I2S, before I had the AirLens I was using USB playing DSD 256. That’s what it is made for.
