You may have a learning curve as to what will work best, Iād just say that you shouldnāt get too hung up with DSD256, DSD128 is pretty good. Please catch me up as maybe I missed it, what Mac computer are you using? You are wanting to upsample 16/44.1 thru 24/192 to DSD? You have much actual DSD content in your local library?
Edit: I see PS Audio mentions Audirvana in their documentation but it has not been added to Plays With Audirvana list yet, maybe you will help @Antoine get this done.
I have upgraded most of my High Definition Tape Transfer music to 256. I have some DSD 128 also.
I play native formats, whatever they are. I have SACD DSD 64 also.
I have a MacMin M2 Pro. I use screen sharing to run when I need to.
I had used DSD 128 when I was using the (Gain Cell DAC PS Audio).
Then upgraded to the Direct Stream Mark ll,
All was well till I wanted to use the AirLens.
If I change to the USB from the MacMini, It will not act in this same behavior.
Plays all, no problems.
Exactly same experience I have had with my oppo205 You have a great computer that should handle DSD256. I have a M1 MacBook Pro and a M2 Mini as well and they are certainly capable with brand R but still struggle with Studio
Hang in there Jeffrey, wait till @Antoine gets back from the Paris show. Donāt take any wooden nickels in the meantime
You have to get native DSD256 to the AirLens to get native DSD256 out from I²S⦠Ask yourself why the debug report does not show the AirLens as 352.8kHz capable.
When the MK2 sees a PCM signal it converts it to DSD, this is the fundamental design of the DirectStream DAC MK2⦠All DSD above 2.8MHz (DSD64, SACD media) is passed un-fettered to the 1-bit PDM output circuit.
From the DirectStream DAC MK2 overview:
ā¦CDs, streaming audio, high-resolution PCM or DSD based media are expertly upsampled in the DirectStream MK2 to twenty times DSD rate and output as pure analog directly into your amplifier or preamplifier.
Can macOS transmit native DSD via the Ethernet bus? I am unclear about this.
It has been, I play 256 downloadās constantly.
Itās when you mix tracks at times.
You are talking a bit over my head and Iām actually looking for a way to resolve this.
Good to know you have been able to sort this out. You are right to use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi when it comes to DSD playback over UPNP. Iām pretty sure if you ask the PS Audio support they recommend you to use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi with the unit
