No DSD output via optical

Hello,
I searched the forums and the Internet but couldn’t find an answer.

I have a Douk AUdio Pro DAC (Douk Audio U2 PRO XMOS XU208 USB to COAX/OPT/HDMI Converter Digital In– doukaudio) connected to my Mac Studio (M1 Max). My DAC is connected to my amp via optical out. I tried many settings but no sound will come out of the device event though my DAC is DSD compatible.

Any suggestions?

Any recommandations to link my Mac Studio to my amp in order to play DSD files?

USB is your best bet. If you have multichannel amp then HDMI is also an option.

I only have RCA line in input and optical.

Am I out of luck or is there a way to use an adapter of some sort?

You can always convert DSD into PCM on the fly in Audirvana.

Yes I can. But by which means do I send the audio out to from may DAc to my amp since I only have opticaé and line in?

It will be sending PCM, so yo can send it via the optical cable. It will the depend on the max sampling rate supported on that interface though. It’s worth a try.

Ok so we’re back with my original question.

I already set Audrivana to send via DoP (PCM 1.1) and I have no sound coming out. Evrythong worked fine when I was on iMac (2015), but not anymore with my Mac Studio.

Any ideas?

You need to set “convert DSD to PCM”.

It is already set.

Not DoP. That’s DSD over PCM. It’s DSD encapsulated in PCM words. You need to really convert DSD to PCM.

Convert to PCM isn’t working either.

Can your turn hog mode on?

Reduce the pre-load cache to 4000MB.

Have you tried using this setting? I’m not sure what your system is capable of but perhaps give it a try.

DOUK info:

  • I2S output supports all sampling rate while S/PDIF supports 192KHz and DOP DSD64 at highest.
  • The pins of 12S is suitable for the HDMI interface of most PS decoders (not guarantee 100%).
  • Please set the volume of operation system to maximum(100) if you want to listen to DSD music.

You are playing a 352 pcm file or is it a DSD256 converted in pcm?

  • With USB input and TOSLINK optical / coaxial /HDMI 12S output(can output at the same time), can work well with DAC, preamp, amplifier or speaker.
