[Origin - License upgrade] Roadmap, please?

Hello Audirvana Team,

I recently received an email from Audirvana regarding NAS and Linux compatibility, which is now included with Origin for licenses purchased after last June. For older licenses, it requires a paid upgrade.

My question is straightforward: Besides continuing to support new OS versions (especially on Mac), what new features are planned for upcoming releases? Do you have a roadmap?

The reason I’m asking is that I purchased Origin at launch and was pleased when you decided to roll back the mandatory subscription plan. I don’t mind paying for an update if it’s worth it and supports your team and the development of Audirvana.

However, many users, including myself, have been waiting for some fixes. Specifically, I’m thinking about the issue of sorting artists’ local albums by album name.

Given this, I hope you understand my concern: “Should I really pay over 50 CAD for an upgrade and, by the end of 2027, still not see any changes regarding this long-awaited feature?

Excellente journée à vous.

I would also appreciate some clarification.
I purchased Origin in May 2022.

When do support and upgrades end for me?
Are there separate Origin upgrade paths now?

I thought the NAS version was available to me, but the latest email suggests it is not.
(The point is probably moot, as I don’t believe my Synology DS220j is capable of running it?)

I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

Hi @pierrechapuis,

We do not communicate on future updates. We do not have a Roadmap to share externally.

I can’t tell you when this sorting will be added to the app; I hope we can soon do this.

However, regarding the question you asked, you can wait until 2025 to decide whether or not you would pay the extension of support if we have been able to add this feature.

You won’t lose access to the software after 2025, and you can still check the release note to see if the feature you are missing has been added to the app.

Hi @Discordiain ,

There will be separate upgrade paths for Audirvāna Origin first-generation vs. second-generation (from June 2024) when we reach the end of support of the first generation of Audirvāna Origin.

The initial Origin license was always indicated with a 2-year minimum OS compatibility warranty and at least one functional update until 2025. So, there will be some updates this year and next.

The most recent ones extend this period to 2027, and Linux compatibility only comes with the most recent Licenses.

The actual price of Audirvāna Origin has been changed accordingly, hence why you need to pay more for a new Audirvāna Origin license now than when you purchased your first-generation license.

If you are happy with Origin, you don’t need to do anything. But you can always upgrade your Origin license with the option available if you want to benefit from some updates down the road, like using it on a NAS.

If you can upgrade the RAM of your NAS to 2GB, you can use Audirvāna with it. Otherwise, it won’t be possible, I’m afraid.

Thank you for the clarification, @Antoine.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.
It’s appreciated.

And for the record, I am very happy with Origin.
It’s fabulous.
And I have every intention of continuing my Audirvana journey.
