Severe stuttering with Studio version 1.6.1

Out of the blue, after working well for weeks, 1.6.1. has severe, random stuttering issues, making it totally unusable for me.

Even after clean reboot, independent of whether upsampling is on or off, and whether the sys optimiser is on or off.

The issue only occurs for local files and for streaming from Qobuz.

Please help!

I just heard my first stutter. And this is my first time playing 1.6.1.

Have had issues with songs terminating before the end despite seeming to have buffered correctly given a complete waveform display.

Oddly I’ve been wondering if this is worse with Qobuz streams and local hi-res downloads (mostly Qobuz). Suspect a different issue to yours. File analysis of teh NAS over the LAN has I hope completed earlier - I’m hoping it’s something related to that.

if I use at the same time AS and a software that consumes resources, I immediately hear cuts and static noises. I really don’t understand how this new version can be so weak. Even Apple Music is much better !

For me, the stuttering occurs even if Audirvana runs exclusively, and nothing else is even opened.

The upsampling wasn’t the issue, it was happening regardless.

That said, today, no stuttering at all. I’m somewhat puzzled.

I agree with you but only for debugging purpose. Because if you paid for a license, or worst for a subscription, you will want the player to work perfect WITH upsampling and DSP.

After weeks of listening without problems, the stuttering is back. On 1.7.2.

With or without upsampling. Local tracks and streamed Qobuz tracks.

I noticed that the Mac is running mds_stores in the background which is eating quite a lot of processing power. Isn’t that related to Spotlight and shouldn’t that be deactivated with the SysOptimizer?

It should, what are your Sysoptimizer settings?

All extreme and off.

By off do you mean they are disabled or actively disabled during audio playback?

What if you go from extreme to very high or standard. Does that make a difference? positive or negative?

Edit:
Audirvana is on my dedicated Mac mini. Spotlight has no added functionality in my case. I just turned off the spotlight index with Onyx. And turned off @ Audirvana that spotlight doesn’t have to de disabled. An additional advantage is that a first track now starts a lot faster.

Interesting both of your observations, My Mac mini had started the fan running too much I saw mds_stores using cpu hard. Thought perhaps it was due to running macOS Monterey beta, I went into settings and unchecked all spotlight items. Does not seem to slow anything down and fan rarely runs now.

I see you have 8gb ram, I have 16gb i7 3.2ghz , What is your processor?

I am a new user, installed Audirvana Studio two days ago. Sorry if I’m doing something wrong.
Almost immediately I heard stuttering on DSF files.
It seems to me that this happens when some actions take place on the computer, especially those related to the Internet activity.
On files of other types and when streaming (Tidal), I have not noticed this yet.
