I upgraded to 3.0 and now tracks keep getting skipped. I thought maybe the track was unavailable the first time it happened, but I just now tried playing Abbey Road, and “Something” was skipped when either I selected it directly or let it play after “Come Together”. In fact “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” was also skipped and it went directly to “Oh, Darling”.
Unrelated to Audirvana, suddenly I can’t get Qobuz to play in my car in hi-res via the car’s browser. Admittedly the browser sucks, but it has always worked in the past.
Is there something up with Qobuz that maybe causes both problems?
I have an example (in Studio 3.0.1) where the Qobuz app plays the track perfectly on my Mac, but Audirvana refuses to play it every time. Can you reproduce? It’s DG’s “Mendelssohn: Symphonies & Oratorios” with “Gewandhausorchester Leipzig • Andris Nelsons” and track number 92.
I use the Eversolo T8 for Qobus, and this issue has recently started there as well using the onboard Qobuz app! Randomly missing the first or second tracks, regardless if it’s a playlist or album. From what I’m reading on other forums this issue is widespread and has something do do with Qobus side of the chain.
That’s what I’m beginning to learn. Qobuz is having issues during a migration. On Audirvana it keeps skipping tracks, and in my Tesla I can’t get things to play in hi-res, both of which worked fine until a week or two ago.
And to add, I’m using the Qobuz native app on an M4 Mac without any problem at home.
Yes, tracks 91 and 93 for me as well. But this can change over time, so it may be different tracks or no tracks may have problems in a couple of days.
All that is certain is that Qobuz has said they are having a problem (perhaps multiple problems) and that they are working on a solution. A Qobuz representative on another forum said Qobuz Club was the place to go for the latest information.
Who was that Qobuz rep? Because I’ll ask in the Club where the official news on this is… Afaik there hasn’t been any communication from Qobuz reps there yet. At least not in a specific new post from them.
His name is David Craff.
I haven’t looked at Qobuz Club myself. Between my own experience and what others on various forums say about theirs, I’ll know when this is resolved, if it’s in a reasonable time. If not, I would have to take a look at another streaming service like Tidal, though I’d much prefer to stay with Qobuz.
I found this thread in Qobuz Club: https://club.qobuz.com/c/ideas/qobuz-error-playing-some-album-tracks
It appears to be a well known issue, maybe related to some Server migration. The fact that the Qobuz app played fine, led me to believe it was an Audirvana issue, sorry. BTW tracks 91 and 93 played fine for me ![]()
Yes, where Jane (Qobuz staff) replied a week ago that everything should be back to normal and got several messages that it wasn’t. But there hasn’t been any formal communication since towards the customers.
Yes, the communication has been notable for its absence.
There have been references to the content distribution network (CDN) and migration to cloud servers, which I take to be the same thing. And David Craff mentioned “attacks” - whether on Qobuz specifically or on the cloud server company, whether a theory or confirmed, I don’t know.
Unfortunately, this does create inconvenience. We have company coming over for Easter, including a friend who trained as a classical pianist, and I was going to put on new albums by a couple of his up and coming favorite classical pianists (Malofeev, Yunchan Lim) as background music. But at this point I don’t know if I should take the chance.
Qobuz works fine from the native Mac app, probably Windows too. It is from anywhere else that I’ve had issues.
Daniil Trifonov and of course Yuja Wang are my faves. They’re pretty well established though at this point. And there’s a bias here, my daughter works with Daniil, and her group also represents Yuja.
Love Trifonov, especially those with Yannick Nézet-Séguin. I enjoy Yuja Wang very much too, though for some reason my pianist friend doesn’t think as highly of her. (I feel free to disagree with him in these matters of personal taste.
)
I’d take no risk and take a month of Presto anyway
That’s a good thought. I’ll try out these albums on Qobuz before guests arrive, and if there’s any hitch I’ll go with Presto (from which I often purchased even before they had their streaming service).
same problem here. this just happens on certain tracks when playing from qobuz on audirvana and usb audio player pro
The migration to a large crowd provider is I assume driven by a desire to get a stronger defence against DDOS attacks which they have had a few in the last year or so with their own infrastructure.
Going to be a bumpy ride for streaming in the next few years I think with an ageing internet infrastructure dealing with explosive usage growth due to AI, the ever increasing degree of malware rendered easier through nefarious use of AI and also the ever increasing state sponsored attacks on infrastructure.
We have seen an increasing incidence of cloud outages in the last year which I fear is only going to get worse. Thankfully I am largely local library only with only minor streaming usage.
Qobuz sent us an update; they are on the right path to solve the issue:
“We have identified the source of the playback errors: it is a caching anomaly with our CDN provider.”
I thought they had changed the client API (again) which is why Qobuz Connect works but many 3rd parties are having issues.
I am finding that studio is working substantially better than Roon though. So far I’ve only had one album that has had the 0B payload issue in audirvana whereas loads fail in Roon
LMS with Qobuz was pretty much unusable.
Any albums that fail to load in Roon I can play via Qobuz Connect to the Wiim Pro.
