[SOLVED] Audirvana won't open after installing

Hi Damien, I have just encountered the same problem that Bob has described! I have uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed several times today. No joy. It will not launch. I am running Windows 10 Pro version 1903 build 18362.418. Like Bob, on every previous upgrade I would see a Windows firewall permission request. I have not seen this dialog with this update and it will not launch after install.
Thanks for your help,
Grant

grantb–Sounds like we have the same issue exactly. I think others are also reporting this in other postings too. At this point I’ve run out of ideas but I’m leaning towards there was something irregular in the latest update seeing as our two independent computers are having the identical issue. I did a system scan and fixed some corrupt files but it didn’t change anything.

I think one of the most frustrating aspects of this is the unique, universal apps way that this program is installed. In the regular windows world you would install from a regular exe file, have its payload installed in a program files folder and associated registry entries etc. There might be a few scattered files around you’d have to hunt down. Anyway, having gone through this multiple times in the past, I would simply uninstall, cleanup the leftovers, maybe delete all registry locations, then reboot. With a fresh copy of the original exe file I would install it again, input my licence and problem solved. I guess times have changed.

Damien - here is the 1st error that I get when I try to launch 3.4.917:

I see someone is replying here. Can you please reply to my question about solving the problem with the license key not working anymore for me. You have probably noticed it few posts down just decided to ignore it for some reason.

Thanks @grantb for the error report. It tells there is a file missing (likely a .dll) that prevents startup.
Can you send me by PM or email the log file Audirvana.log ?
It is located in C:\Users[Your login]\AppData\Local\Audirvana\Audirvana

Damien, can you send me an email address to use or explain how to use PM. I have the log file available to send.

Don’t bother, I have finally found the missing dll.
Can you test the new installer?
For this:

  1. Uninstall Audirvana (right click on the “Audirvana” Start Menu item, then select Uninstall)
  2. Install the test build

damien–I followed your last instruction to grantb and got the same result.

I uninstalled the previous, rebooted and then downloaded from your link and installed–the program still won’t open and the two Event ID’s are the same: 1026 .NET Runtime and 1000 Application Error.

Ok, can you also post the detailed error?

Thanks. I’ve been able to reproduce this issue on a Windows 10 Home VM.
And I’ve fixed it at least for the install on this VM.
Can you try again?

  1. Uninstall Audirvana (right click on the “Audirvana” Start Menu item, then select Uninstall)
  2. Install the test build

damien- It successfully installed this time and reports version 3.4.917. Seems to be working normally. Just to reiterate: I have Windows 10 Home Version 1903 OS Build 18362.418. Thanks for your help!

Damien, thanks, it is working after following the windowsTest link above!

Thanks for these reports!
I’ve then now issued 3.4.918 that includes this installer update.
You can then now uninstall the test version, and install again the official one.

Uninstalled the test version and installed .918. No problems with the install and working normally. Thanks.

Once again I can not access Audiavana. I was able to solve the issue after following the download instruction from another post. I used Audiavana once or twice since. Now again I can not open the app.
from my desk top. help please.

billd

Not sure what version you’re using but the latest is 3.4.919. I upgraded from 3.4.918 in the program, and it’s opening fine and acting normally. You could see if it works for you. Uninstall your version and install this one.

Here’s the link:

https://audirvana.com/delivery/windows/index.html

Thanks Bob,
I just down loaded that version from your link. I still can not open the app. Beginning to be more trouble than it is worth. Will try again. BTW my computer is running the latest versions of windows software. I’m using Bitdefender security. Not sure if that is an issue.
If you have any other suggestion, I would appreciate.

Bill D

billd–

Did you uninstall the old program, reboot and then install the new one from the link?

Not sure if your A/V may be an issue or not. I’m just using Windows Defender on a Win 10 Home PC. OS version 1903 (18362.418).

I assume you went through the same issue that grantb and I did–started when we upgraded internally from 3.4.916 to 3.4.917 and had the same issue–program was there but it would not open? You said it did work for a couple of sessions? Do you remember what version it was when it did work temporarily? Was it 3.4.917?

We were both getting Errors with event id’s 1000 and 1026 after the botched upgrade to 3.4.917. Damien solved it somehow and he mentioned that he thought part of the issue was a missing .dll file. The fixed, working version he initially provided was a test version of 3.4.917. Then I think he gave a final 3.4.917. Subsequent internal updates to .918 and .919 have been successful, at least in my case, and it’s running normally for now.

Not sure what to advise other than above. If I can think of anything useful I’ll post it. At this point I would message damien and see if he can figure it out.
