Unable to pass DSD tracks or upsample to DSD

Hello,

I can’t past tracks in DSD (128, 256). It’s the same thing if I upsample tracks to PCM.
THe playback progress bar at the bottom of the screen (Application menu>Audio) gets progressively greyed out until the end of the tracks. Then nothing appens. The actual playbackof the track nevers turns blue.
It’s the same thing if I upsample tracks to PCM.

Can you help me solve this problem ?

Thanks

You will need to paste your debug information so people understand your computer system, your system settings your endpoints and how they are connected etc.

Go to Studio, settings, my account and the help section and click on the Debug Info button. This will copy your system snapshot to the clipboard. Open a post then just paste your debug information into it. The community then may be able to help with some suggestions.

I am afraid I am a Mac guy so I hope some windows users respond however you only have 8gb of ram in your system and setting the Audirvana buffer to 5.5 GB leaves very little for the operating system to work.

I would try lowering the buffer size in Audirvana to 3GB and see if this helps your system process the files whilst waiting for someone with windows experience to make some suggestions.

If you are trying to upsample to DSD I would suggest you upgrade your RAM to 16 GB so you can leave 8gb for system operation and still get your buffer allocation to 8gb. This should allow your system to process the files more optimally.

Also to try and determine whether it is a UPnP issue see if it works outputting to your computer speakers. If it does then it is a UPnP issue.

Hope some windows users have suggestions for you!

Yes, the output works on my computer.
And also UPnP if the files are Flac (16 or 24 bits, 44 kHz to 96 kHz).

Sounds like some TEAC settings are incorrect in Audirvana if it will UPnP only to PCM 24/96 but as I say I am not a windows user. Have you checked the settings for the TEAC on the Audio tab of settings in Audirvana? Maybe post a screenshot and hopefully someone will have some suggestions

Other question are you connected to the TEAC via wireless or Ethernet?

Audirvāna UPNP has been problematic for my Oppo205 at anything over 24/96. It cannot play a long track 24/192 all the way through. Ethernet cable on everything using Mac Mini

One last question as you are using Kernel Streaming I assume you are playing DSD via DOP1.1? Seem to recall you need ASIO to play Native DSD on windows…

@Djmo1960

I am connected via wireless.
Her you are the screenshot of Audio tab of settings.
IMG_20230916_182052|666x500.

It doesn’t work with Asio either.

Once again, sorry I am not familiar with Audirvana on windows. When you click on the TEAC in the audio settings page do you not get a window opening with the settings for the DAC as you do on a Mac? On a Mac I would get a dialog box opening with options to set the max pcm sample rate and DSD settings I.e “non convert to pcm” or “DSD over DoP 1.1” amongst other options……

You need to ensure you either select kernel streaming and use DOP1.1 or if you use ASIO have the correct ASIO driver installed as far as I am aware. But again I last used a windows machine in the days they shipped with Windows XP.

Maybe a windows Audirvana user can join the thread and assist you with this as I have reached the limit of my extremely limited knowledge in setting up Audirvana on windows.

Once you have that set correctly then if it still doesn’t play try connecting via Ethernet to see if it wireless problem. Apologies that I can’t be anymore help but I am sure @Antoine or a windows user can help you!

Not a Studio and not a Windows user, but isn’t ASIO and Kernel etc only for USB/directly connected devices? That shouldn’t matter.

I see Openhome in the XML several times. Quick conclusion: Audirvana and Openhome are not a happy marriage.

You could try some more settings related to alternative playback or gapless. Sometimes it’s the details that make it work or not.

Something is wrong here… The 701-N is far more capable than what is described in the report.

…and then you have this report regarding a DMP-BDT500

This report below alludes to you not sending native DSD to the 701-N… because if you are sending DSD128 or above via DoP1.1, no-can-do because you have the PCM frequency set to 192kHz…the DoP 1.1 sample-rate carrier for DSD128 is 352.8kHz, you can play DSD64 because the DoP PCM carrier sample-rate is 176.4kHz

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Yes you are correct. The DAC has to be physically connected……just shows how illiterate I am when it comes to the workings of windows!

It seems that much more is possible via USB than the built-in streamer functionality. If the XML data is correct, the network module is the limiting factor.

DSD should be supported, but as @OffRode said no guarantee.

Is it possible to connect it via USB?

The UD-701-N does not support WiFi… only Bluetooth

I think they want to keep the noise factor to a minimum on this platform topology…

The OpenHome Standard

OpenHome is a software platform designed to play high quality digital audio from a variety of sources such as local network servers, internet radio providers and streaming music providers such as Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify.

The platform is built upon the UPnP standard, but simplifies access to services and enhances the capabilities of UPnP to provide significant improvements in robustness along with key features such as highly synchronised mutli-room playback, managed playlists on device and gapless playback.

OpenHome is designed for portability and tuning allowing integrators to get the best performance for their device. The core Audio engine provides an advanced Pipeline model with tunable caches at various stages. The Pipeline provides a plugin model for content decoders, audio codecs, input sources and audio drivers giving integrators great flexibility in their final desings.

Interoperability is a key part of the OpenHome ethos, and is enabled by providing a clear, controlled set of service APIs combined with a full player implementation.

OpenHome presents the standard UPnP Media Renderer network services for use with basic control points. (could be limited to 192kHz in this application scenario)
